Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli looks set to miss Saturday’s derby showdown with United at Old Trafford.
Balotelli has been sidelined by a knee injury since the end of December but first-team coach David Platt revealed earlier this week that the Italian could feature following an intensive rehabilitation programme that saw him visit the United States
Ferdinand has not recovered from the calf injury he sustained in the warm-up ahead of United's defeat at Wolves last week.
Evans played in that game but missed Northern Ireland's loss to Scotland on Wednesday with an ankle injury and is still sidelined.
"Rio Ferdinand got a calf injury last week. He will be out for a couple of weeks," said Sir Alex Ferguson.
